After time for lunch in town, we’ll head out to the nearby Kentucky district to meet an award-winning farmer. Michael is a modern farmer who has embraced the need to diversify. As well as producing some of the world’s finest merino wool, he runs beef cattle and has a fast-growing (literally) agroforestry business. This leafy central park is the starting point for a short guided walk down to the Royal Botanic Gardens that takes us past many of the city’s most historic buildings. We’ll pause for a while in the gardens, where you can relax at the café or explore the gardens and take in spectacular Sydney Harbour views. From the gardens, it’s a short stroll to the Sydney Opera House and a guided tour of the iconic structure that has come to symbolize modern Australia. Free for lunch and the rest of the afternoon for further exploration, or a visit to one of Sydney's many excellent museums. Free for dinner.
Day 10 - Sydney Beaches and Bays

Once in Kuranda we'll break up for free time, with options to visit the Kuranda Heritage Markets, browse boutique shops, visit the Koala Gardens (optional koala holding picture), or the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. We return to Cairns via the Kuranda Scenic Railway on a mountain rail route originally used to service the rich mining regions of the Atherton Tablelands.
