Rangitoto Island
Book your ticket with Fullers to Rangitoto, Auckland’s dormant volcano and iconic landmark sitting in the Harbour.
Upon arrival hike to the summit for panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf and explore the unique lava caves formed by the island’s volcanic past.
There is a small museum with local history of human connections to the island of the centuries.
Take plenty of water if its a hot day and a sun hat – there is very little shade.
When you’re at the summit of the island you’re over a hundred feet higher than the people standing in the viewing deck of the Sky Tower. Give them a wave!

Auckland’s West Coast and the Waitākere Ranges
Bush and Beach run guided day trips that include forest walks, coastal viewpoints, and visits to black-sand beaches on Auckland’s west coast.
A nice way to get out of the city and soak up the nature on Auckland’s doorstep.

Waitomo Glowworm Caves
About two and a half hours south of Auckland, the Waitomo Caves are known for their glowworms and impressive limestone formations.
We don’t visit Waitomo on the Mondumo tour and the majority of operators offering a day tour from Auckland to Waitomo combine it with either Hobbiton or Rotorua – we do visit both of these.
One company that offers a day trip including transport and entry to the caves is Auckland and Beyond.
